Powder River is a census-designated place (CDP) in Natrona County, Wyoming, United States. It is part of the Casper, Wyoming Metropolitan Statistical Area. The population was 51 at the 2000 census.

According to the United States Census Bureau, the CDP has a total area of 6.0 square miles (15.4 km²), of which, 5.9 square miles (15.3 km²) of it is land and 0.1 square miles (0.1 km²) of it (0.84%) is water.
As of the census[1] of 2000, there were 51 people, 24 households, and 13 families residing in the CDP. The population density was 8.6 people per square mile (3.3/km²). There were 44 housing units at an average density of 7.4/sq mi (2.9/km²). The racial makeup of the CDP was 100.00% White.
There were 24 households out of which 20.8% had children under the age of 18 living with them, 54.2% were married couples living together, 4.2% had a female householder with no husband present, and 41.7% were non-families. 25.0% of all households were made up of individuals and 12.5% had someone living alone who was 65 years of age or older. The average household size was 2.13 and the average family size was 2.64.
